How do I lower property taxes on a home I buy in Austin?
If the home is your primary residence, file for the Texas residence homestead exemption with the appraisal district after you buy. It lowers the taxable value of your home.
Is there down payment assistance in Austin?
Statewide programs from TSAHC and TDHCA are available to eligible buyers in Austin, and some cities and counties have their own. Eligibility depends on income, credit, the home and current program funding.
